Drug Info - Poppers

Other names
amyl nitrate, butyl nitrate, liquid gold, rush

Poppers are not addictive. They come as a strong smelling liquid in small bottles.

The liquid is toxic (very dangerous) and should not be drunk. Users sniff the vapours of the liquid, effects are immediate but very short lived (lasting only a couple of minutes).

Poppers cause a head rush, can make sexual organs feel bigger, make orgasms last longer and relax the sphincter (bum) muscles.

When effects wear off users can feel sick, faint, weak and possibly have a headache and rash around mouth or nose.

Poppers are dangerous for anyone with chest or heart problems, anaemia or glaucoma.
